We’ve all had them, those days/weeks/months where we feel a little sub-par. You can’t quite put your finger on why you feel this way, but you know you’ve lost your mojo. You’re not depressed, but you’re not sparkly either. That spring in your step? It’s gone flat. Your enthusiasm and zest for life? It’s become apathetic. Your usual positive outlook on life? It’s taken a wee holiday to negativity land.
There’s lots of reasons why you may be feel like you’ve lost your mojo. It could be for obvious reasons such as too much stress or relationship issues, or it could be on a more subconscious level making it tricky to put your finger on it. Whatever the reason, here are some simple yet effective ways of reclaiming your mojo!
7 ways to get your mojo back…
1. Start journaling. This is awesome for getting your thoughts out of your head and uncovering what’s really going on, plus there’s been increasing evidence that proves journaling helps with your well-being. It’s great for clarifying your thoughts and feelings, reducing stress, learning more about yourself and solving problems more effectively. Perhaps a notebook and pen is all you need to get your mojo back!
2. Go see a naturopath or integrative GP and have your vitamin and mineral levels checked. It could be that you’re just lacking in a few key nutrients that are making you feel less than sparkly. Iron and Vitamin D are usual culprits.
3. Get back into your body. We often get so caught up with our hectic lives, that we forget to tune into ourselves. Your body will always show you signs of imbalance whether it be from your mind, body or soul – you just need to look out for the signs. Once you have tuned in, trust your intuition, take action and grab your mojo back! π
4. Overwhelmed? This could definitely be the mojo thief! Getting on top of overwhelm is like releasing a load of weight from your shoulders (tight traps anyone?). Try this: Do a big brain dump of all the things on your plate, and then divide them into tasks that you have control of and tasks that you don’t have control of (ditch that stuff pronto!). Next, put a number priority beside each task, with 1 obviously being the most important and 10 can definitely wait. All the tasks you numbered from 1-3, focus on these ones first (if you have more than about 5 tasks, keep refining!). You might find this also helps with procrastination, which is also a naughty mojo stealer! Give this a go, and tell me how it worked for you in the comments below…I’m sure it’ll be a game changer.
5. Get out into nature (or bring it home to you). Nothing beats a good ol’ fashioned walk or run and breath of fresh air outside in nature, especially down at the beach. But since it’s winter in the southern hemisphere, how about bringing some nature into your home instead, and buy some plants? Certain house-friendly plants are great for cleaning the air we breathe by absorbing toxins. Plants also lower our blood pressure, reduce stress, help us to relax and focus, leading to greater productivity and creativity.
Another little trick, is buying a Himalayan salt lamp. You know how you feel amaze-balls after hanging out at the beach? That’s due to the negative ions in the air which you breathe in. Negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy. Are you sold? π
6. Spoil yourself. Yep! We all know how a bit of retail therapy make us feel…pretty damn good. Spoiling yourself isn’t limited to buying clothes or shoes of course; it could also include taking some time out for a lovely facial, massage, reiki/kinesiology session, or even seeing a clairvoyant to seek some guidance if that floats your boat.
7. Get inspired! I know, you’ve lost you mojo and thus have no inspiration, but taking part in something new and exciting is bound to get some inspiration and motivation back in ya! You know that thing you’ve been wanting to do/create/achieve? Do it! It might be an art class or photography course, learning a new language, taking up salsa lessons, running your first marathon, doing a yoga retreat, completing a meaningful project, volunteering at an orphanage…whatever it is, big or small, give it a go and await the return of your MOJO π
I’d love to hear from you. What steps have you taken to get your mojo back? Leave a comment below xx
P.P.S. If you’ve lost your mojo right now, it could very well be due to the Mercury Retrograde! Hang in there – it’ll be over on the 7th July.

I’ve completely lost my mojo blogging and otherwise and put myself in social media time out at the weekend. Looking at my blog posts up till then it should have possibly happened sooner.
Vit D is a big issue for me, amongst other things going on. I’ve just spent over 12 months on double dose vit D and my levels are worse not improving.
Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong? I suspect it has a lot to do with ongoing health issues but would love ideas on what I can do to help Vit D absorption.

Hey there. Good idea to put yourself in social media time out! Scheduling ‘technology free’ days is seriously important to keep productive and creative. That’s interesting about your vit d levels. Do you have gut issues? If you have leaky gut, celiac disease, Crohns disease, or other digestive issues, this could be your problem since vitamins get absorbed in the small intestine. Problems with your liver and kidneys can also reduce the absorption. If you haven’t already, seek advice from a Naturopath or Integrative GP. Hope this helps x

Yes, gut issues and still trying to work out what auto immune disease.
Any suggestions for an integrative GP?

Churchill in Shenton Park have some amazing integrative GPs π
I’d also highly recommend Renae Trivic, who’s a naturopath in West Perth – she has helped me with my gut and Vit D issues no end! x

Love this post Liz! And all your tips are things that I do regularly to keep me balanced in mind + body. I find journalling super helpful as it allows me to brain dump everything out onto the page and in this way find sense of things that perhaps I was unsure about…I also find so many “nuggets of gold” when I just let my writing flow.
I have been looking at getting a salt lamp in the last few weeks, so you’ve totally sold me on that one! Thanks lovely xx

Ha! I love the idea of a mojo thief! Yes, that’s such a good way to put it….mine got stolen some time back! Some really good advice here. I have been reading “the Hormone cure” by Sarah Gottfried, and a few little tweaks in my diet and supplements have really helped me with energy levels the last few weeks. For me too, taking breaks/rest/meditating really help with the overwhelm you speak about, and it weighing me down. Have to say am intrigued by the Himalayan salt lamp – will have to investigate! π great post xx
