Tell us three things about yourself

  • My favourite place on Earth is Muskoka in Canada or Jinja in Uganda
  • I’m fluent in French and love to speak it (as often as I can)
  • My passion business is my juicing company here in Perth called Pure Glow Cleanse
What’s been the biggest health challenge you’ve overcome and what did you learn from this experience?

So far in life I have been fortunate enough to not have any major health challenges but I have always struggled to maintain my weight.   This led me on a journey of self-discovery that shaped the person I am today.  It took a few years, but I realized that the secret to having a body I love is to eat healthy, delicious food and to indulge everyday (my favs are raw desserts and a few hot chips from time-to-time).  Loving my body without judgement really helps me to accept all of me and to stop comparing myself to others.

What’s your top tip for getting your day off to a great start?

My favourite way to start the day is to wake up just before the sun, juice some fruits and veggies and head outdoors for exercise (running, walking or biking).  Those early moments just before the sun rises, when the world seems to be still and the air is heavy with cool mist are just bliss for me.  I thrive on that still, rising energy and use it to inspire an amazing day.  My best day always starts with my best morning.

Your brekky usually consists of…

Juice!  My favourite breakfast is 2L of gorgeous, green juice.  I wish I had this everyday (and am working on it), but when I do, it gives me a zing of energy and a spark of creativity.  Juice fuels the best version of me!  Some days I also enjoy a classic eggs and toast brekky when it’s raining outside, to celebrate a special occasion with my love or if I just feel like a treat.

Which foods do you eat to nourish your body and give you vitality?

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, juice is my favourite meal and I realize that it doesn’t sound very filling, but I just love the stuff.  Other than that, I also feel nourished when I enjoy hummus with veggie sticks or rice crackers and my favourite home-made dinners are pesto quinoa with loads of roasted veggies served on a gorgeous salad.  As a busy vegetarian, I like things that are quick, easy and delicious.

Why is fitness an important part of your life and do you have an exercise routine?

I must admit that my workout routine can be a bit crazy but I love to wake up and head outdoors.  I don’t have a gym membership (to be honest, I would love one because I am addicted to group fitness classes but haven’t plunged yet) so I usually head outdoors with my bike or my running shoes and just go.  I live near the river, so it never gets boring.  I love to listen to guided meditations, audio books or past lectures while running for an extra inspiration kick.  I usually round off my workouts with a meditation that just makes my happiness levels soar!  On rest days, I enjoy turning on my favourite music and practicing my backbends in my living room.  Yoga feeds my soul.

Your ‘perfect day’ in a nutshell would be…

My perfect day is me waking up with a smile on my face, making some fresh juice, settling in for a morning meditation, loving my body with a spa day, dedicating at least an hour to playing on the yoga mat, fired up coaching sessions and exploring somewhere or something new.  It’s not a perfect day without some adventure.

Describe what motivated you to choose your current business or career path?

I have always been looking for a challenge in my career but for most of my life hadn’t given any thought to feeling challenged and fulfilled.  My traditional career also wasn’t giving me what I want most from life, which is to live wild and free.  So, I think because I acknowledged that I wanted more from life, the opportunity found me and it was my job to simply show up and say yes.  I have always followed what my gut tells me…it can make life a bit crazy but it fills me up!

What business or career challenge have you overcome and what one piece of advice would you like to pass on to others?

I think the most important thing that I have learned from creating and running multiple businesses at one time while also maintaining a professional career is that you need to take risks in order to be extraordinary.   In my life, I have been given choices.  One option will be to stay safe and the other will be to take a risk.  It is the most important thing I have ever done to follow my heart and take the risk.  It becomes a moment where you just feel that there are no other options.  The moment when you realize what you are capable of if you just leap.  It’s terrifying and electrifying.  Following my dreams fearlessly makes me feel alive.  So I will always remind people to listen to what they are being told to do and do it.  Follow your heart and dreams without apology.

Your favourite book or movie of all time is? And why?

To be honest, I don’t really think I have a favourite book of all time.  One of my favourites of the moment is The Art of Effortless Living by Ingrid Bacci.  She writes so beautifully about finding your purpose and living your best life by doing less.  I love it.  As a person who tends to push to get things done, it is a great reminder that the best way to do more, is to do less.  I highly recommend it!

And lastly, do you have a recipe you’d like to share with us?

Yes!  My favourite juice of the moment to enjoy as a little treat when I am low on energy (it is not a green juice – but a yummy one).  Drink it on an empty stomach.

2 grapefruits

6 oranges

½ lemon

1 lime

500mL coconut water

Juice all of the fruits and mix with the coconut water in a jug.  Chill and enjoy!  It makes about 1.5L and is yum after a workout and gives a nice zing of energy and antioxidants.
